Support of i18n

Suggestion: A site can have multilanguage in the same page or site. But a territory can have more than one language and dialects. Therefore like in Java the support of both language and region/country should be too.

Re: Support of i18n

I am not sure to understand.
In Ametys you can handle as many languages as you want but.
A site is attached to one language and tt is recommanded for a page to have a single language. In a content you can emphasize some words or sentences that use temporarilly another language.

Does this cover what you need?

If not can you bring a precise example, or an url. Thks

Re: Support of i18n

Take Switzerland as an example:
>4 languages and many more regions

You might want to translate into all languages in a localized way.
Additionally, there might be regionalized cusomizations too.

How would you solve that without like in java:

lang_region_country

Re: Support of i18n

It depends if you want 4 sites of each in a language.
Then you can translate your skin by adding catalogues dedicated.
myskin/i18n/messages_fr.xml
myskin/i18n/messages_en.xml
myskin/i18n/messages_en_US.xml

To emphasize a work of another language : in a content, with Ametys you can switch language using the dedicated button in the inline editor.

Re: Support of i18n

ok, then I misunderstood it about one place. Database or file no issue as long as an interface is in place.

but regions? like this...

myskin/i18n/messages_en-US-FL.xml

English - US - 'Florida dialect'...
does it work?

I do like Ametys. It is a pretty good tool! You have done a very good job except poor documentation so far, but I guess it is coming... How can we support you?

Re: Support of i18n

Your are right about documentation.
We have completly rewrite it in french (with a pretty good quality now) and we are currenlty planning its translation.

For dialects, in the inline editor, no problems since the contributor type the code him self.
For i18n system, yes it does handle "variant". except the file name would be with '_' (I've made a mistake above that I just edited)

So messages_en_US_FL.xml would be fine.
